Tretinoin

Retinoic Acid / Prescription Vitamin A / Retin-A

AddressesAnti-AgingAcneTexturePigmentation

What It Is

The active form of Vitamin A — the most potent and clinically studied retinoid. Binds directly to RAR receptors at full strength. FDA-approved for acne and photodamage. The initial retinoid reaction is more intense than retinol but subsides in 4–12 weeks. Prescription only in most countries.

Typical Effective Concentration

0.025%

This concentration sits at or below the 1% line — that's expected and effective for this ingredient. Below the 1% line isn't automatically fairy-dusting; some ingredients genuinely work at low doses.

How to Use

Prescription only. PM, pea-sized amount for entire face. Begin at 0.025% and titrate under dermatologist guidance. Strict daily SPF mandatory. Contraindicated in pregnancy.
