Adapalene Gel 0.1%

TreatmentMid-rangeEvening only
The only third-generation retinoid available OTC in the US — prescription-strength acne treatment for comedonal and inflammatory breakouts. Expect 4–6 weeks of purging before visible clearing. Do not combine with benzoyl peroxide in the same layer unless formulated together (adapalene is stable, most other retinoids aren't).

FDA-approved for acne with emerging evidence for anti-aging. Most tolerable prescription-class retinoid — better suited than tretinoin for sensitive or easily irritated skin.
