Kojic Acid

Tyrosinase Inhibitor / Fermentation-Derived Brightener

AddressesPigmentationGlow

What It Is

A chelating agent derived from fungal fermentation (sake, soy sauce). Competitively inhibits tyrosinase — the enzyme responsible for melanin synthesis. Effective for hyperpigmentation and melasma, particularly in combination with glycolic acid. Can cause sensitisation at higher concentrations — patch test recommended.

How to Use

Topical 1–4% in serums, creams or spot treatments. PM use preferred; follow with SPF. Patch test first.
